At CrowdComfort, we understand that the people make the company. That's why we wanted to highlight those that make our company great by introducing you to them through employee blog posts. You’ll have the opportunity to take an inside look into our team’s jobs and life, letting you know them beyond the CrowdComfort logo.
In this blog we interview Tenzin Dawa, an implementation and customer success specialist, who shares deep insight on how to support the customer. Learn about her career, day to day life, and her passions and philosophies that inspire her and make her an amazing person to work with.
My job title is implementation and customer success specialist and I work with the operations team, to support one of our largest clients based in Chicago. I am responsible for setting up new sites, managing & maintaining customer floor plans, and installing and training users on how to use CrowdComfort’s proprietary platform both on-site and virtually. My role essentially involves assisting the operations team in minimizing churn at all costs, while providing white-glove service to ensure that customers get the most value out of their CrowdComfort experience.
I enjoy seeing our customers grow and achieve their unique goals while strengthening our relationship as business partners. One important lesson I have learned in my current role is always asking for feedback from your customers and being an advocate for them. My team in Chicago has experienced firsthand how CrowdComfort platforms uncovered many cracks in their organization and used the information collected in our database to make meaningful and positive changes and achieve their desired outcomes.
My favorite part of working at CrowdComfort is the people I work with, especially our leaders who believe in our expertise, encourage diverse views and processes and partake in projects. I am beyond grateful to be a part of the CrowdComfort team and happy to know I work with people who are intelligent, supportive, kind, and understanding. Everyone at CrowdComfort treats each other like friends, not just co-workers, so there’s always mutual trust and support for one another. I think working for a company that trusts you is rare so it's not surprising to see how hard everyone works and even goes above and beyond. CrowdComfort is truly a great company to work for because they value a work and life balance.
My family is from Tibet, but due to the Chinese occupation in 1959, my parents, who were teenagers at the time, had to escape from the massacre that killed 1.6 million Tibetans and imprisoned hundreds of thousands. Due to this, my siblings and I were born in Odisha, India as refugees and my mother immigrated to Chicago in 1992 to provide a better life for me and my siblings. I am the first in my family to earn a college degree. Being a first generation college student definitely has its challenges, like navigating what college to attend, determining what field of study to pursue, and funding for tuition. However, I was able to use the resources available and make connections that gave me the opportunity to explore, find new friends, grow as a person and learn transferable work skills. I received my undergraduate degree at DePaul University, where I studied Public Health and Administration.
One of my favorite hobbies that I picked up during the 2020 pandemic is collecting houseplants. I will admit I have killed a few plants in the beginning but after learning about different kinds of plants and their unique maintenance needs I have gotten a lot better. Caring for plants gives me peace of mind and a sense of accomplishment when watching them grow and thrive. When I'm not at home and depending on the weather you can find me sipping a cold one watching the sox game with my boyfriend. We also like to go to the beach sometimes and try to take advantage of all the fun street, food, and music festivals in the city.
One of my favorite quotes shared by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is "When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new.” I think this is a quote everyone should practice both in their professional life and personally. When we talk, it is usually from our personal experiences that are different from others even if we are partaking in the same situation. However, when you listen you learn something new and become mature enough to come up with extraordinary ways to grow as a human being both mentally and emotionally. In my role as an Implementation and Customer Success Specialist, we work with the dev team almost daily and the type of work they do is very different from what we do so when we take the time to really listen and learn from each other We can maintain our high level of personalized service for our customers. If you are not listening, you are not learning. If you are not learning you are not developing.
